Line-up
Turn Back, the band's third studio album, was an attempt to return to the traditional sextet style and it was a more consistent, more powerful effort with a harder edge. The more edgier sound of Turn Back reflected the growth of the band. The drummer Bobby Kimball's increasing ability to play was evident in the vocals of Joseph Williams, who had grown more confident and mature. David Paich's keyboard skills were as well more refined, more precise, and less derivative on previous recordings.
After touring to promote the album, the band recorded a live concert in Amsterdam that was released as a set of two CDs titled Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records.
